Rare Primates Single Cover Trio

Rare Primates is a Texas-based “roots rock-pop” band that approached me in 2020 to design a series of covers for their three upcoming singles: Moonside, Ponte Vecchio, and City Lights.

When talking with Rare Primates, they asked me if I could give each track a listen-over and try to design what felt connected to that sound. Inspired by the classic noir style, I created a series of doorways that give the listener a glimpse into the auditory atmosphere they’re about to enter.

The doorways themselves mimic that of a primate’s open jaw, harkening back to the band’s name. By creating three separate illustrations, I was able to highlight the importance and difference in sound between each track.
